Melbourne Venue Co was delighted to host Sophie Cachia’s (The Young Mummy) baby shower on Thursday 17 November at Dutchess, to celebrate the arrival of her second child.
Sophia Cachia began blogging about her first pregnancy in 2013 with her post “My Miracle Baby” and has gained a cult-like following of parents around the world who appreciate her refreshing and brutal honesty about the realities of pregnancy and motherhood as she’s raised her first child, Bobby.
Now celebrating the upcoming birth of her second child, Sophie wanted to celebrate with her fans while also making a different in the lives of Australian mothers and children facing hardship. The event raised awareness and much-needed funds for local Melbourne charity, St Kilda Mums, which supports disadvantaged families and new parents. Sophie and her guests raised an impressive $39,000 for St Kilda Mums on the day.
Sophie chose Dutchess as the venue for her baby shower for its glamorous ambience, combination of booth seating and space for socialising, convenient CBD location and features such as the exclusive bar, AV facilities and stage set up, VIP lounge and the DJ booth. Guests enjoyed champagne cocktails on arrival and a variety of sweet and savoury canapes such as petite mini burgers, croquettes, white chocolate covered strawberries and miniature ice creams.
A panel of celebrity mums, including Megan Gale, Kylie Brown, Emma Hawkins and The Block’s Bec Douros, joined Sophie on the stage to share their own personal experiences of pregnancy and motherhood. In true Young Mummy style, the panellists were refreshingly honest about the ups and downs of motherhood and their own journeys as parents.
The party continued late into the afternoon, with performances by NUSSY, live illustrations by fashion illustrator Adriana Maruzzi and make overs by Designer Brands makeup artists.
