Round Up: Our Top Show Stopping Melbourne Events in 2016

At Melbourne Venue Co, we’ve had our biggest year yet. We hosted a number of showstopping public events throughout the year, in addition to hundreds of private gatherings and celebrations across Melbourne. From elegant baby showers, blissful wedding receptions and engagement parties and unforgettable birthday celebrations to glamorous poker nights on Party Boat Cruises, we’ve delighted in being involved with a broad spectrum of celebrations in 2016.

1. Cinco de Mayo at Newmarket Hotel

Newmarket Hotel in St Kilda celebrated Cinco de Mayo this May, with a lively evening of delicious Mexican-inspired cuisine, cocktails and live entertainment. The venue was transformed with colourful decorations and roaming live entertainment, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for guests.

2. Spring High Tea at 505 Wine Room

We celebrated the arrival of spring with a decadent High Tea at 505 Wine Room in Toorak. Partnering with Chandon and Impala & Peacock, a Melbourne-based boutique teahouse, it was an indulgent afternoon of bubbles, boutique tea and lavish sweet and savoury treats.

3. Paws on the Lawn at College Lawn

The College Lawn’s beer garden filled with furry, four-legged friends of all shapes and sizes on 26 November for Paws on the Lawn. This doggy day out was an event with heart, raising funds for Wildwood Animal Rescue.

4. Young Mummy baby shower at Dutchess

Dutchess was proud to host Sophie Cachia, AKA The Young Mummy, for her Baby Shower fundraiser event in October. Raising awareness and much-needed funds for local charity St Kilda Mums, the event featured a panel of celebrity Mums including Megan Gale, live performances and illustrations, makeovers, and free-flowing canapés and drinks. Most importantly the event raised $50,000 for St Kilda Mums!

5. Polo in the City’s Media Launch & After Party at The Vincent

Landrover Polo in the City took Melbourne’s social scene by storm this year. The Vincent in Albert Park worked with the polo from start to finish, by hosting the media launch and after-party.

The Media Launch was a glamorous luncheon held in the Emerald Room, with photo opportunities outside The Vincent with a VIP guest: Smokey, the polo horse.

The Official After Party took over the entire venue on Saturday 26 November, with the full venue being utilised for accommodating guests who purchased different party packages.

6. Puppycino Party at Auburn Hotel

Auburn Hotel hosted two Puppycino Parties this year, with one in February and one in October. Pooches enjoyed free puppycinos while their humans snacked on $2 oysters and $12 cocktails. It was the perfect way to enjoy the warmer weather in a relaxed setting, and judging by the number of wagging tails at the events, it was enjoyed by all.

7. O’Connell’s 140th Birthday Dinner

O’Connell’s in South Melbourne celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2016 and celebrated accordingly with a decadent 140th birthday dinner of good food, good wine and great company.
